A Learning Disabled Students Homepage

I recently found a very helpful page "Kellys Homepage", who is a learning disabled student. It included a lot of information we as teachers could use to be aware of our needs of our students, as well as to support and encourage them, and so on...have a look!

"My name is Kelly. I am a 20-year-old sophomore at Princeton University, and I have been in mainstream classrooms since kindergarten. I have Cerebral Palsy and I am visually impaired. As the only disabled student in my class, I often felt isolated. No one else understood the problems unique to my disabilities. There was no one to go to for advice. I had no older successful disabled students to serve as role models. I now know they were "out there," but there was just no easy way for us to communicate. I have created this website so that disabled students can help each other.

I want to be able to share my experiences, my successes and failures, my frustrations and triumphs, to help other disabled students have the same positive and rewarding school experiences I have had. I hope to provide a forum for other disabled students to share their solutions to problems many of us share. Adults who provide services to disabled students will have a way to broadcast insights, information, resources and techniques which have helped disabled students overcome difficulties. Most importantly, disabled students will know that they are not alone.
